For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the
Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
The WARN notice arrived in the mail yesterday. This was not a surprise as I have known since
June 7th that my employer was closing the Nuclear Generating
Station. The good news is that it stated my last day would be October 3rd,
thus gaining me one extra month of health insurance for the family.
I am not sure what I will do after this. Do I stay in
Nuclear, stay in power production, go to a refinery, or something else. I do
have my bachelor’s in Chemistry, but that was years ago. The severance package
will include $10,000 for education if I decide to go back to school. The
question would be what to take and how to survive if I go back to school.
I have updated the resume and joined the modern electronic
world, including Linkedin, indeed and the other internet sites.
It is interesting to see everyone who I work with leaving
for new jobs. That is everyone that is not in the late 40’s and over age
bracket. I am so glad I live in a country where discrimination does not exist.
The one thing I know is that every time in my life I have
had to search for a job, God has been faithful and provided me with something
better. When I left the pharmacy, I was led to sell mortgage loans. When I
thought I could retire and live on real estate investing and be a missionary,
the real estate market tanked and I had to find another job. God led me to the nuclear
industry where I had to pass test after test to get in. Now, what and where, I
do not know, but God does.
